Outpatient Services provides individual, family, and group therapy for all ages. Treatment components also include child assessment and counseling and a medication clinic. Specialized programs are offered in the areas of substance abuse/substance abuse prevention (including Drug Court and group counseling), sexual abuse, and anger management. - top

Psychiatric Services CBHC Psychiatric services are provided by a board certified child, adolescent, and adult psychiatrists, along with a team of ARNP’s and licensed nursing staff that are specially trained in child, adolescent, adult and family psychiatry. Each team member has a deep commitment and respect for the caring of children, adolescents and adults in crisis, outpatient, medication management, and recovery treatment. - top

Crisis Services (Crisis Stabilization Unit [CSU] and Mobile Crisis) provides assessment and treatment services 24 hours a day, 7 days a week for adults and children and adolescents.
The inpatient facility is designed to serve those who are experiencing an acute mental health crisis and are in immediate need of crisis intervention and stabilization services – voluntarily or involuntarily – because they are a danger to themselves or others because of a mental illness. Licensed mental health professionals also go on “Baker Act” calls, typically with local law enforcement officers. - top

Children and Adolescents face unique developmental, social and emotional challenges. Some children’s coping skills develop at different rates, but the staff at CBHC utilize innovative treatments and interventions to facilitate healthy emotional development regardless of your child’s stage.

Case Management provides a voluntary program offering oversight management of services and resources necessary to prevent or reduce the need for institutionalization, hospitalization, or incarceration of an individual due to mental health reasons. Activities are aimed at assessing the client’s needs, planning services, serving as a link between the client and those services, monitoring service delivery and determining the effectiveness of services rendered. - top

Substance Abuse Outpatient – In 2006, an estimated 7% of Charlotte County residents, 18 or older, were classified as having substance dependence or addiction.
CBHC’s Substance Abuse Outpatient treatment services goal is to assist people – adults, adolescents and children seeking help in dealing with chemical dependency and substance abuse issues and return them to a state of being fully functioning and productive members of their families and community.
Each individual is treated with dignity and respect, and are encouraged to view substance abuse issues not as evidence of personal failure and unworthiness, but as a highly treatable condition for which there can be successful resolution. Treatment includes individual counseling, group counseling and consultations with a board certified addictions professional.
Some groups include: DUI Referrals, Dual Diagnosis, Dept. of Corrections referrals, and Women with Substance Abuse issues.

Recovery Center (Inpatient) – Charlotte Behavioral Health Care Recovery Center offers detox and residential services in a safe, respectful and therapeutic environment. Our services are here to help adults - 18 and older - recognize, understand and overcome addiction. Treatment is part of a full continuum of care which addresses the need of our clients in a safe and focused environment.
The state of the art addiction treatment center, opened in November 2008, is licensed by the State of Florida for 24 hour medically supervised detoxification and inpatient recovery care. Personalized treatment focuses on help individuals achieve and maintain a drug and alcohol abstinent lifestyle in recovery. The Recovery team is lead by a physician, specially trained therapists, nurses and recovery coaches who operate with the philosophy that chemical and alcohol dependency is a treatable disease.
Some individuals may also have an additional mental health diagnosis (sometimes referred to as dually diagnosed or co-occurring) with needs very different from the individual who is suffering from addiction alone. We provide integrated clinical expertise and care for such conditions as depression, anxiety, PTSD and bipolar disorders as well.

Healthy Families is a nationally accredited statewide home visiting program that is free and voluntary. During regularly scheduled home visits, parents receive encouragement, support and information on healthy child grown and development. Home visitors model healthy parent-child interaction and cover a wide range of educational topics. Families are also linked to community resources as needed. 941-629-6477.
Healthy Start Counseling provides psychosocial counseling to families enrolled in Healthy Start who are not insured or with a diagnosis covered by insurance/Medicaid. Relationship problems, feeling overwhelmed and other issues affecting family function are dealt with so the children have a more positive home environment. Any referred family must have a child 0-3 years and be enrolled in the Healthy Start program as all referrals must come from that agency. 941-255-8872.
Healthy Start Parenting are voluntary 6 week parenting classes aimed at behavior management and provided for families enrolled in the Healthy Start program. The research based Strategic Training for Effective Parenting for children under 6 Curriculum (STEP) is used with a pre/post test for each class. Any referred family must have a child 0-3 years and be enrolled in Healthy Start program as all referrals must come from that agency. 941-255-8872.
Parent Education for voluntary and court ordered/approved classes that last about 10 weeks and cover a variety of topics designed to promote positive and effective parenting skills. Individual, in-home classes are well as group classes are available.
Nurturing Dads, a unique male facilitated 13 week group class for men to discuss a variety of topics such as family leadership, discipline and teamwork, the power to nurture, juggling work and family life and much more.
Dad’s Tool Time is a free, beneficial class teaching Dads the nuts and bolts of parenting, stress management and reduction, and navigating discipline and rewards. Great networking with other fathers and grandfathers.
Family Resource Center, a drop in for referrals and educational materials. Outreach education on parenting topics at area schools’ Family Nights. Linkage to community resources and finding help for specific family related problems.

Mental Health Court – Began in 2005 as a conjoint program with CBHC, the State’s Attorney’s Office, the Public Defender’s Office, Charlotte County Judges and the Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office. Assessment, professional treatment and treatment compliance monitoring for people who have committed criminal offenses and have severe and persistent mental illness. The services are provided to those who meet the criteria and follow the 6 – 12 month program instead of jail confinement. - top
Drug Court is an intensive substance abuse program for consumers with non-violent criminal drug charges. Involves supervision by DOC Probations, group and individual Substance Abuse therapy (at least 4 times a week), involvement in 12 step recovery, weekly drug screens, and weekly court appearances. Individuals are held accountable for their behavior in an immediate and practical way and are given the opportunity to learn how to deal with life effectively without escaping into drug or alcohol use. Intended to help people move from a life dominated by substance use to become productive members of society. - top
Therapeutic Foster Care - a residential program, which provides care within licensed/certified Adults Family Care homes for adults and seniors with serious and persistent mental illness who have been evaluated to benefit from a family care treatment approach. Case managers work closely with the sponsors/caregivers to assure consumers have appropriate referral and effective community networking services. The family care homes are licensed by the State of Florida’s Agency for Health Care Administration and, after training, are certified by Charlotte Behavioral Health Care. - top
Supported Employment – provides job readiness training, coaching and assistance with accessing local training programs. Participants must be 18 years or older, diagnosed with a chronic and persistent mental illness, and must demonstrate a genuine desire to be employed. - top |
